It was well written and very interesting. I was a Dallas officer on military leave at the time of the 'shoot-out' in 1969. It's a totally delightful book.. The Broadway play was fairly close to it's source, but the artistic license used in no way detracted from the original. My kids love cats and I purchased this book for one child who needs some work on pronunciation and elocution, and this child has enjoyed reading these verses aloud while working on those skills. An interesting read.. Not only does Sullivan engage with 'serious' texts such as psychological studies of tattooed persons, she also utilises 'fictional' works and dramatizations of tattooed and marked bodies that make this book more relevant and affecting than it might otherwise have been.This is all rather brief and jargonistic (and quite possibly wrong, but it's a start).
