The Wise Wound explores the historical and cultural legacy of this repression, from its effects on the way medicine treats women to the displaced appearance of menstrual imagery at all levels of our culture. Answers many of the questions that one had never thought or dared to ask. This is an important literary event. From the Foreword by Margaret DrabbleThis best-selling classic is now back in print after ten years. Her acclaimed novels, including the most recent The Mirror of the Giant, are published by Marion Boyars. First published in 1978, The Wise Wound has gone through numerous editions, with 100,000 copies printed. Men and women rely on her for advice, financial aid, arbitration, even spiritual counseling and healing. On the history test I barely sqeaked by - I would say 20% were on topics covered in the book, but many were cultural-patterns questions - "in the antebellum peroid, middle-class women tended to" that were not in the study guide. Hopefully this will be dealt with in one of the other books further down the line.
